Dermal Fillers

Beautiful for: Rejuvenating and enhancing facial contours, lifting the face, restoring volume loss, filling deep creases, lip reshaping, volumising and hydration.

Plump up the volume

Dermal fillers are one of our most powerful tools in our facial rejuvenation kit. Fillers are made from a naturally occurring, tissue-friendly protein called hyaluronic acid that restores age-related volume loss in the face. At Ivy Clinic we use dermal fillers in the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, naso-labial folds, and mouth corners. Different fillers are used for different areas of the face: from a soft, viscous gel to fill creases, to a thicker, firmer gel designed to gently restore volume and structure.

We use Dermal Fillers to:

  • Give volume to the cheeks
  • Fill in deep lines or wrinkles
  • Add volume & enhance lips
  • Define the jaw & chin (just to mention a few)

As we age, we naturally lose volume in our face. Dermal fillers can be very effective to reshape, glamourise, define and add volume and hydration to areas of the face that are a concern. We’ve seen the amazing results of filler give our clients so much confidence! We can also combine the use of dermal filler to with Botox for a more powerful outcome such as to smooth ‘smoker's' lines around the lips.

At Ivy Clinic our philosophy for fillers is ‘easy does it’ – our goal is for you to look and feel like your best you – not someone else. In our experience, dermal fillers are best approached as a journey. Restoring significant volume loss does take time, but it’s an investment in you. We think you’ll appreciate the effort when you see the naturally youthful, fresh results.

Tell me about Dermal Fillers

How long do they take?

A treatment with dermal fillers takes 30-45 minutes and you’ll see the results straight away. Initially the areas with filler might be a bit ‘dramatic’. They will settle down in a day or two.

How long do they last?

Fillers last from 9-24 months, depending on the product that’s used.

Will dermal fillers make me look fake?

At Ivy Clinic we aim to enhance and restore your natural beauty. By carefully replacing volume loss we can create a natural and healthy-looking result, not an artificial or ‘obviously done’ one. Everyone will notice but nobody will know!

What exactly are Dermal Fillers?

They’re made up of a sugar protein that exists naturally in our skin. It keeps the skin looking plump and healthy, by attracting surrounding water molecules. In a gel form, it’s easily injected into soft tissues or under muscles, depending on which area we’re treating.
Normally the protein is broken down by the body within a day or two, but the protein in dermal fillers is cross linked so it lasts up to two years.

How long’s the recovery time?

You may develop some bruising, swelling and tenderness – all of which will settle within 2-5 days. Bruising isn’t such a bad sign, as it stimulates collagen production. Your post-filler care handout will include ways to manage and minimise these.

What if I don’t like the result?

This is highly unlikely, as your initial consultation will ensure that we clearly understand your concerns and wants. We also have an enzyme available that can dissolve the dermal filler if necessary.

What are the risks?

We will discuss the risks in more detail during your consultation, to make sure you’re completely informed. We don’t consider temporary redness, puffiness or bruising as risks. More severe side effects are extremely uncommon, but a few cases have been reported where the filler has hardened and blocked a vein or artery. This is why it’s super important to get this treatment from a Cosmetic Registered Nurse or Doctor who’s highly experienced in injecting dermal fillers.

Are dermal fillers painful?

During your consultation, your Cosmetic Registered Nurse will determine the right amount and type of pain relief for your specific dermal filler treatment. We keep discomfort at a minimum using a local, topical anaesthetic, as well as the anaesthetic included in the filler. Some areas may not need any topical anaesthetic, but others like the top lip often need a little extra help with numbing.

How is dermal filler different to Botox®?

Dermal fillers add volume and contouring to firm or lift the face whereas Botox® treatments reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the muscles.

What does it cost?

Everyone’s face and aesthetic goals are different. That’s why we invite you to come in for a complimentary consultation, where we’ll be able to quote you a maximum cost for treatments.

*For this procedure, please first visit us for a free consultation and assessment with a Cosmetic Registered Nurse, who will also perform the treatment.
